Lake Champlain played a key role in the early years of the Revolutionary War as both British and American forces fought to control this water highway. Physical evidence of the struggle over Lake Champlain has been left to us in the form of sunken vessels and battlefield debris scattered across its bottom lands. This presentation will share information on the current, and previous, archaeological efforts being conducted by the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, and how that work deepens our understanding of these foundational events in our country’s history.
