The Captain School – Upgrade to Masters (100 GRT)

To captain boats that carry more than 6 passengers for hire or operate inspected vessels, an upgrade to a Master’s license is required. This endorsement is available in increments of 25, 50, and 100 GRT. Most mariners qualified for OUPV (Operator of Uninspected Vessels) credentials can add a 25 GRT upgrade. To obtain a Masters license, mariners must be at least 19 years old and have a total of 720 days of sea service in their lifetime. Students who have previously completed the OUPV course at another institution and provide their certificate of completion or valid Merchant Mariner Credential upon registration may take the Masters Upgrade and/or Towing Endorsement classes at ABM without needing to register for the OUPV class.
Dates: April 1-3, 2025
Class and Exam Time: 8 am – 5 pm (Exam time is built into the course curriculum)
